Marx's Method in Capital: A Reexamination

This quantity explores the principally unexamined query of the logical strategy hired via Marx within the development of his fiscal idea in Capital.

The most crucial methodological concerns mentioned contain the character and value of dialectical common sense, the relation among essence and visual appeal, the order of choice among combination fiscal magnitudes and person magnitudes, and the similarities among Marx's logical technique and the strategy of Hegel.

Was heißt Denken? (Was bedeutet das alles?; Reclams Universal-Bibliothek)

Denn in das, »was Denken heißt, gelangen wir, wenn wir selber denken. Damit ein solcher Versuch glückt, müssen wir bereit sein, das Denken zu lernen«.

Unto This Last and Other Writings (Penguin Classics)

Firstly an outcry opposed to injustice and inhumanity, Unto this final can also be a heavily argued attack at the technological know-how of political financial system, which ruled the Victorian interval. Ruskin used to be a profoundly conservative guy who regarded again to the center a while as a Utopia, but his principles had a substantial impression at the British socialist flow.

In a way this is trivial, as Quine himself would be the first to concede (though it non-trivially precludes existence beyond the purview of any theory). It sounds somewhat less trivial when Quine hones what he means by saying that an entity must exist in order for a theory to be true. He means that the entity must be among the things about which the theory makes explicit generalizations, once it has been suitably formalized (where an explicit generalization is any claim of the form “Everything is thus and so”).

We should not lose sight of the irony, which is itself a testament to Quine’s influence, that even this most un-Quinean of theses is accepted only because of what its proponent sees as due allegiance to a basic methodological principle of Quineanism.
